Groups
Organize existing subscribers within each newsletter without changing consent.
Organize existing subscribers
In the unified audience, each group belongs to one newsletter. Open Groups, choose its newsletter, then create a group for course interests, events or customer categories. Names can be up to 100 characters. A group cannot later move to another newsletter.
Open a group and enter an address that already has a subscription in that newsletter. The same Subscriber can join groups in newsletter A and B independently; adding the same member again keeps one membership. Older accounts awaiting migration retain account-wide groups.
When someone joined
Group members and subscriber details show Joined for new memberships added through the dashboard, API or a confirmed signup form. Adding an existing member again keeps that date. Removing someone and adding them later records the new membership date.
Older and imported memberships may show Unknown. ApresMail does not substitute the import date or the newsletter signup date. This records the current membership, rather than a full history of previous memberships. Use Group joined in campaign conditions to target current members who joined a chosen group before or since a date, or within a number of days.
Membership and permission to send
Membership does not grant marketing consent, reactivate an unsubscribed contact or remove a delivery block. Counts include all members, including unsubscribed and blocked contacts. They are not counts of people eligible to receive email.
A campaign or signup form may use a group of its own newsletter as a source, but membership alone never makes someone eligible. Consent and delivery checks still apply at review and again before sending. Segments remain separate rule-based audiences within a newsletter.
Rename, remove and archive
Rename changes the label without changing members. Remove takes an address out of this group without unsubscribing. Erasing a Subscriber globally removes their memberships from every newsletter.
Archive moves a group to the Archived list. Its members remain available to review and remove, but you cannot rename the group or add members. Archiving cannot be undone in this version and does not change subscriptions.
Purchase integrations can separately authorize a new unrestricted newsletter subscription through the full-access contact API with subscribe: true, then add it to a group. That owner authorization is recorded on the subscription; joining the group alone still does not grant permission or restore a withdrawal.
Start with a small group of existing contacts, then review its members before organizing the rest of your list.
